It is recommended to use standard 10W-30 motor oil. For colder climates beneath 20° F, it is advised to use 5W-30. You can also reference your owner’s manual under “Specifications” for more information.
Use unleaded gasoline with an ethanol content of 10% or less. This means you should avoid Flex Fuels or E85 gasoline as it contains higher amounts of ethanol.
We recommend using 20-40-lb. propane tanks.
The first five hours of usage we call the break-in period. The purpose of the break-in period is to seat the rings of the piston. During the break in period stay at or below 50% of the running watt rating and vary the load occasionally to allow stator windings to heat and cool. As with all new engines, the piston rings and cylinder need to be broken in.
This is important for the newly manufactured cylinder wall and rings to seat themselves. It is not necessary to run the generator for five hours straight to do the break-in period. The generator can run for five hours over any period up until they reach those five hours.
The machine can run for as long as it has fuel in it or supplied to, only shutting down momentarily to cool the machine for refueling.
This is not recommended because adding an extension to, or modifying, your generator’s fuel system will be done at your own risk. This will also void your warranty.
Unfortunately, your machine will not operate using natural or gas propane. It is designed to run on gasoline only. We cannot recommend or encourage the modification of the generator in this fashion as it will void your emissions warranty. We have dual fuel units and a tri-fuel pre-configured generator to consider for purchase.
You can parallel your inverter with any other Champion inverter that has the same black- and red-squared syncing ports. You can use our Parallel Kit Selector Tool to help you determine the best kit for pairing two inverters.
We do not recommend modifying or adding any kind of silencing mufflers to the already-existing exhaust system; doing so will be done at your own risk and will void your warranty.
You cannot add a remote- or electric-start feature to any of our products that do not come equipped already with such features. We are sorry about that.
